Everyone knows that food served on airplanes isn't amazing. But setting aside your tastebuds, if you really need some nourishment up in the air, which are the healthiest options? Here are some in-flight meals that you can get
without guilt:
1. Wraps over Sandwiches
Wraps often have less calories than sandwiches and are packed with less carbohydrates. Really any wrap containing a protein source like meat, beans, quinoa or even hummus plus some healthy veggies is a good call.
2. Protein Plates
We've seen these as options on almost every flight recently. These "protein plates" usually consist of meats, cheeses, nuts and dried fruit. All good options. Just try to opt for meats that aren't too fatty like dried sausages. Even though they are yummy, they pack a whole lot of fat.
3. Grilled Chicken
Grilled chicken dishes are pretty common as well. They are usually accompanied by a carb or starch and some veggies. Chicken is typically lower in fat and calories than other types of meat like pork or beef so it's almost always a good chioce.
4. Sushi
I bet this last one will surprise you! Some airlines are now serving sushi and bento boxes in the air. Not only is sushi low in calories, it packs an omega-3 fatty acid punch with fish like salmon. They're usually light on empty calories like white rich but be sure you don't fill up on that if it comes on the side.
